The CRTC kills the Bell Merges with Astral Media: A monopoly is thwarted

BCE Inc.’s $3.4-billion deal for Astral Media has been killed by the country’s broadcast regulator, which said the merged mega-company would be impossible to police without imposing “extensive and intrusive safeguards” that would affect every broadcaster in the country.

Rogers (Canada) increased mobile high-speed service to Rural Canada (Northern Ontario)

Rogers Communications Inc. is improving the wireless mobile coverage in northern Ontario by partnering with a regional provider, TBayTel, based in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Rogers and TBayTel are working together to maintain an HSPA network that provides a wider variety of services to an under-serviced region of the province that stretches from the Manitoba border to just west of Sault Ste. Marie.
